Explore the Hidden Treasures of India on Your Adventure Tours

The second most populous country in the world and the seventh largest country by geographical area, India is a cornucopia of diversity. From the majesty of the Taj Mahal to a tiger safari in Ranthambore National Park, there is something for everyone. Whether young or old, this is a land of plenty.

Stretching from the Arabian Sea to the Bay of Bengal with the Indian Ocean to the south, India’s land borders meet with Bangladesh, Burma, Bhutan, Nepal, China and Pakistan, making it a superb location from which to tour other parts of Asia. As family vacations go, overseas adventure travel doesn’t get much more adventuresome than this.

Historic monuments to city hustle and bustle

Memorable for its sights, sounds and smells, a day spent in the narrow streets and chaotic bazaars of Old Delhi will amaze and delight. Once adorned with the elegant mansions of nobles and members of the royal court, along with spectacular mosques and gardens, Old Delhi, a city within a city and surrounded still by crumbling city walls, is best explored by rickshaw or on foot if its labyrinth streets are too crowded.

One of India’s most well-known cities, Mumbai is intriguingly metropolitan and home to people from all regions of the country resulting in a representation of all cultures, festivals, languages and traditions. A hub for cultural, literary and artistic activities, Mumbai is jammed with museums, galleries, theaters and libraries.

Outdoor splendor

India may not be top of the list for family vacations, but it should not be underestimated as an ideal destination for all, with much to offer to suit even the most demanding traveler. There are museums and temples in abundance, but those who prefer the great outdoors might try swimming with elephants in the crystal clear, azure waters of the Andaman Islands or snorkeling with multicolored exotic fish in the Lakshadweep. With much of the country surrounded by water, there are also countless beaches to explore.

Exhilaration guaranteed

For the more energetic travelers the rugged terrain and mountainous heights afford the opportunity for exhilarating hikes or travel by raft down the mighty Ganges. Wild elephants can be observed in their natural habitat whilst venturing through tropical jungles full of incredible, exotic species of wildlife and plant life.

Ranthambore National Park is a must for game enthusiasts with safaris in search of leopards, crocodiles and deer and of course, Indian tigers. Some prefer to travel at a more sedate pace with a camel safari across the breathtaking Rajasthan Desert.

India is a multitude of destinations in one country with beaches, stunning landscapes, snow-dusted mountains, historic and beautiful monuments, fantastic family resorts, wildlife, exquisite flora and fauna, idyllic offshore islands and adventure galore.

Culturally, India has perhaps more to offer than any other country on Earth. The timeless elegance of the Taj Mahal in Agra and the Palace of the Winds in Jaipur leave visitors with images that will stay with them forever. It took 20,000 men more than 17 years to construct the Taj Mahal, which is said to be one of the most beautiful buildings in the world. Also in Agra, on the banks of the River Yamuna, stands the red sandstone Agra Fort with its impressive public and private audience halls featuring marble and gem studded thrones. An elephant ride away is the Amber Fort Palace with its opulent interior a stark contrast to its austere outer shell.
