The Somerset hotel where rich and famous go is toast of Sloane Rangers in Chelsea

It was so refreshing to see London toffs wandering around sipping Somerset cyder instead of champagne at the Chelsea Flower Show this week.

Women dressed in expensive floral dresses, men in Ralph Lauren blazers and polo shirts wandering around the most expensive ground in England sipping the nectar drink we are so famous for here in Somerset.

It was so good to see Somerset being promoted on such a prestigious world event, our famous cyder being broadcast all over the world.

The reason these swankies swapped the champagne flute for the cyder pint glass is a very exclusive and popular hotel in our county.

The Newt near Bruton in Somerset is fast becoming the best hotel in the country and this year sponsored the Chelsea Flower Show for the first time, cyder from the hotel was the main drink at the show.

Because the hotel is so famed for its wonderful gardens and orchards it seemed right to team up with the beautiful gardens in Chelsea this year.

Cyder made from apples grown in the gardens at the Newt was the official drink at the show, rose from the same hotel was the official wine of the most famous gardening show in the world.

(We don’t know if the Queen had a tipple but we like to think she did. If she can drink Guinness in Ireland why not cyder from the rich and beautiful Somerset valleys?)

The hotel had a big presence at the show, they had their own stand promoting Somerset apples and cyder and there were signs everywhere saying The Newt is the main sponsor at the show.

In the various hospitality tents around the grounds people were sipping our world-famous cyder and loving it, it seems apt, and it looks like The Newt will continue to support the prestigious Chelsea Flower Show for many years to come.

With Londoners rushing to escape the city this hotel is the trendy go-to place for celebrities and wealthy people wishing to get out into the countryside.

It is about time the whole world realised our county has the best produce and cyder, we have known it for a long long time.
